Never Before Seen Photos of the Challenger Disaster

Challenger Disaster – 28 years ago

I remember staying home from school on Tuesday, January 28, 1986. My dad kept me home that morning to watch the space shuttle Challenger launch live. I was only 7-years-old but I vividly remember watching and being shocked when the Challenger exploded after liftoff from Cape Canaveral, Florida. My dad was devastated.

USS Arizona Veteran survivors interred at Pearl Harbor

A few weeks ago a friend Chris and I were discussing the Pearl Harbor memorial in Hawaii. Getting to Hawaii and seeing the memorial are on our list of places to see soon. Chris mentioned something that I didn’t know, several survivors of the USS Arizona have been interred with their shipmates.

For more information visit a recent story/video featuringDaniel Martinez, the chief historian of the national memorial at Pearl Harbor, has spent about 30 years interviewing the survivors and witnesses of the attacks, collecting their stories and helping many of them fulfill a dying wish: to be interred with their shipmates in the underwater grave of the USS Arizona.
